Talking Heads
Two of the property sector’s heavyweights have voiced their opinion on arguably the apartment market’s toughest challenge, structural defects.
Property developer Harry Triguboff has called upon the banks to fix the eastern states’ troubled tower saga, after a number of apartment blocks were evacuated in Sydney and Melbourne. Without the support of the banks, Mr Triguboff believes problems with apartments will only get worse as owners are unable to sell their properties for good prices.
Property journalist Alan Kohler argues it’s time for the Federal Government to accept responsibility and lead a national high-rise building rectification scheme. The National Construction Code has been intentionally flouted, he says, warranting a national solution to ensure the outcomes for residents and builders in different states are consistent.
