Help Residents Enjoy Supercharged nbn® Speeds

The buildings you manage may now have nbn full fibre connections available for a better broadband experience. This is great news, as nbn accelerated the speeds on some of its existing, higher speed wholesale plans in September 2025.

This means your residents could have access to some of nbn’s fastest and most reliable wholesale speeds.

So now is the perfect time to help eligible residents make the most of their new high-speed fibre connection.

The need for speed

Australia’s digital landscape is rapidly evolving.

The typical household has more than 25 connected devices, and that number is expected to soar to 44 by the end of the decade. We also spend more than 6.5 hours a day online and are streaming and gaming more than ever before.

Higher speed internet plans help feed Australia’s demand for data. They can enable smoother video calls and streaming with less buffering. Faster downloads for large files, games, and software updates.

This matters most when you’re running many devices at the same time. Plus, helps enable smart technologies like connected lights and appliances.

How nbn is helping

nbn accelerated its wholesale speeds at no extra wholesale cost to retail service providers on its highest three residential wholesale speed tiers at the time in September 2025 for homes with nbn full fibre (also known as Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)) and Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) connections.

The nbn Home Fast wholesale speeds for FTTP and HFC increased from 100/20 Mbps to 500/50 Mbps, offering five times faster wholesale download speeds and more than double the wholesale upload speed.

The nbn Home Superfast wholesale speed increased from 250/25 Mbps to 750/50 Mbps, offering three times faster wholesale download speed and double the wholesale upload speed.

The nbn Home Ultrafast wholesale speed increased from 500-~1000/50 Mbps to ~1000/100 Mbps, offering double the wholesale upload speed.

How to help your residents supercharge their speeds

Following completion of an nbn full fibre upgrade, let your residents know their building now has nbn fibre technology, letting them access high wholesale speeds and more reliable nbn internet.

After the fibre upgrade has been completed and nbn notifies your residents their premises is ready to connect to an nbn service, your residents then need to contact their chosen internet provider to order an nbn fibre plan.

The following information is designed for your residents, feel free to copy and paste.

Share these three steps below with your residents to help them take full advantage of the accelerated nbn speeds.

Make sure the equipment in your apartment can keep up. Your choice of Wi-Fi router, and how you set it up within your premises, could limit you from utilising the maximum speed of your broadband plan. Our top tips to optimise your in-home set up: nbnco.com.au/learn/optimisation/in-home-optimisation

1. Check the age of your Wi-Fi router. Older routers may not be able to support faster speeds. If your router is more than five years old, you may want to consider whether it’s suitable for your needs. Ask your internet provider to find out more.

2. Make sure your Wi-Fi router is in the open. Ensure that your wifi router is in the open outside of a cupboard and from behind furniture to help ensure the signal can reach as far as the router will allow.

3. Check your Wi-Fi coverage. Wi-Fi coverage and speeds will likely get worse the further you are away from your router. Consider a Wi-Fi mesh network to extend your range, especially if you are in a larger home.
