President and CEO Report – First Edition 2026

With the year well underway, the pace of activity is already accelerating. It is clear that 2026 will be another year where the role of strata is front and centre in Australia and New Zealand’s housing conversation.

Across advocacy, education, professional standards and member engagement, SCA continues to advance our vision of a stronger, more professional strata sector. One that supports both sustainable businesses and thriving communities across Australia and New Zealand.

Ask the Question That Matters

In late 2025, we proudly launched our national consumer campaign, Ask the Question That Matters. As the peak body representing thousands of strata and body corporate professionals, this campaign reinforces a simple but powerful message: when choosing a strata manager, consumers should ask, “Are you an SCA member?”

This question matters because SCA membership represents professionalism, accountability, ethical practice and a commitment to continuous improvement. Through the campaign, we are helping consumers understand what good strata management looks like.

The campaign positions SCA members as trusted partners who operate under a Code of Ethics, professional standards, and a collective commitment to best practice. Importantly, the campaign elevates the public conversation around strata management and reinforces the essential role our profession plays in modern community living.

Advancing Education Through Our RTO

A major milestone for SCA in 2025 was the continued progress of our application to become a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Following extensive preparation, consultation and sector input, we undertook our formal interview with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) assessors at the end of January.

This is a significant step toward delivering nationally recognised, strata-specific qualifications that are designed by the industry, for the industry. Our focus is on quality, consistency and relevance, ensuring strata managers across Australia can access education that genuinely reflects the complexity, responsibility and professionalism required in their roles.

We look forward to progressing this work and, subject to final approval, delivering qualifications that strengthen capability, support career pathways, and raise standards across the profession.

2026 SCA Australasia Conference

Looking ahead, we are excited to build toward the 2026 SCA Australasia Conference being held in South Australia during April under the theme Strong Businesses, Vibrant Communities. This theme captures the heart of our vision for the strata sector.

We believe the future of strata lies in businesses that are well-governed, financially resilient and led by capable, ethical professionals. When businesses operate with integrity and purpose, the communities they serve become safer, greener, fairer and more connected. Commercial success and community wellbeing are not competing priorities; they are inseparable.

The 2026 conference will explore how leadership, governance, sustainability, innovation and people-centred practice come together to shape a profession that leads with purpose. Together, we are shaping a future where every business decision contributes to the creation of vibrant, enduring communities that will stand the test of time.

International Study Tour – Canada

Our commitment to professional growth also extends beyond our borders. In the 2026-2027 financial year, SCA will host its next International Study Tour to Toronto and Vancouver, offering strata leaders a unique opportunity to learn from global peers.

Canada is internationally recognised for its progressive housing models, strong condominium governance frameworks and commitment to sustainable urban living. Participants will gain practical insights into innovative approaches to strata and condominium management, explore different regulatory environments, and bring back ideas that can be adapted to local contexts.

Beyond technical learning, the study tour provides immense value through peer connection, bringing together industry leaders in a collaborative environment that encourages reflection, inspiration and long-term professional relationships.

Building Capability Through Mentoring

We are also proud to continue delivering our free Australasian Mentoring Program, which remains a cornerstone of workforce development within the sector. The program supports new entrants navigating the early stages of their careers, while also providing experienced professionals with guidance as they move into senior leadership or specialised roles.

Participants are thoughtfully matched with mentors outside their own region, anywhere across Australia and New Zealand. This cross-jurisdictional approach broadens perspectives, encourages the sharing of best practice, and strengthens the profession as a whole.

The value of a mentor is someone who offers insight, challenge, encouragement and perspective which cannot be overstated. Through this program, we are investing in people, capability and the long-term sustainability of our sector.

Looking Forward

As we move into the next phase of SCA’s journey, we remain focused on advocacy, education, ethical leadership and member value. The work underway in 2025 has laid strong foundations for the future. One where strata professionals are recognised as essential contributors to safe, wellfunctioning and vibrant communities.

Looking ahead, 2026 will be a year of collaboration. Whether through national and state conferences, targeted advocacy campaigns, education initiatives or member engagement, SCA will continue to bring the sector together to share knowledge, shape reform and support one another.

Thank you to our members, partners and stakeholders for your ongoing support and engagement. Together, we are shaping stronger, more resilient communities.
